Materialism
What is materialism but the idea that self-realization is best achieved through that which is apart from the self. The incarnation of possessiveness and yet but a child of egoism. With a music seductive to its fathering heart it draws attention to the surface of being, yet speaks not of the price paid in loss of dimentionality in perception. How can you follow a three-dimentional path when being only in two? You end up following the reflection of reality onto the surface which you have chosen for your perception and being. And yet you wonder why you feel disconnected and at loss? In more practical terms, materialism will, unless resolved, exploit our planet to exhaustion, and the struggle for her resources are increasing as we breathe. Clean water, food and the fuel to power our materialistic motion hold the potential within to cause afflictions greater than any seen in memory.
